This week was very interesting. We continued to read the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. We focused on Jim, Huck, The Duke, and The Dauphin. We learned what each one of those characters' goals are in life. We also learned more about themselves. When I first started reading this book, I felt like Huck didn't care for people as much as he does now in the book. He feels bad that the Wilks sisters were swindled. He then wants to get there money back. I think that when we continue to get farther in the book, we will learn more about the characters and how they change from the beginning of the book. I have been enjoying this book, but it's a little bit confusing at times, so I hope I can understand it better. http://www.wikihow.com/Understand-the-Book-You-Are-Reading

This week we focused on the book Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Now that we have been reading more of it, we learned more about how Huck and Jim are lonely. In the chapters that we read this week we learned a lot about Jim. We learned that Jim's family was taken away and sold as slaves. Jim is very sad and wants his family back. We learned that Jim needs/wants Huck, his family, and freedom. The time that this book takes place people are against black people. Learning how people talked and reacted about black people makes me very sad because everyone should be treated the same. I hope that in the end of the book, Jim has his freedom. http://www.eeoc.gov/laws/types/race_color.cfm This week we started reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. While reading the book, we are focusing on isolation and alienation. The question that I am researching is How does someone deal with being ignored and/or lonely? Huckleberry Finn is very lonesome, at one time in the book he says he wishes he was dead. Huckleberry was so lonely that he wanted to smoke. Huckleberry's dad locked him in a cabinfor 3 days. Huckleberry was very scared and pretended that someone robbed the cabin and killed Huckleberry. Being alone can change people's actions and how they view life. I hope to learn more about isolation and alienation. http://www.calmclinic.com/anxiety/isolation-loneliness |
